A top on its own exists for one reason: your top half and your bottom half do not have to be the same size, and pretending otherwise is how swimwear ends up unworn. Buy the size that fits here and the size that fits in Swim Bottoms.

We cut the full ladder of support, from a string triangle that adjusts on the body up to a moulded underwire cup. Where a top has removable padding or adjustable straps, it says so, because those decide how much of the fit is yours to set.

How do I know a top will hold without trying it on?

Read for structure rather than for style. Underwire, moulded cups and a wide band under the bust do the holding. Ties, strings and thin elastic set position but carry very little weight.

Is a halter better than a triangle?

A halter ties behind the neck and takes the weight there, which lifts more and can ache after a long day. A triangle spreads it across the shoulders and holds less. Neither is better. They trade support against comfort.

Can a bandeau stay up while swimming?

Honestly, not reliably. A bandeau is a sunbathing top. If you want bare shoulders in the water, look for one with a detachable halter strap, which several here have and say so.
